Insurance & Payment.

Plans we accept, how to verify coverage before your visit, and options if you're self-pay.

Plans We Accept

We are in-network with most major commercial, Medicare, and Medicare Advantage plans across Central Texas. Because networks change every year, please call our office or your insurer to confirm coverage for your specific plan before your visit.

Confirm before your visit

Insurance networks are negotiated plan-by-plan, and a carrier (for example, "Blue Cross") can include dozens of plans with different networks. The most reliable check is a five-minute call to the number on the back of your card.

Commercial plans

  • List the commercial carriers OSI is in-network with — e.g. Aetna, BCBS of Texas, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana Commercial, Scott & White Health Plan.

Medicare & Medicare Advantage

  • Confirm which Medicare Advantage plans OSI accepts — e.g. Humana Medicare Advantage, UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage, BCBS MA, WellCare.
  • Traditional (Original) Medicare, Part B.

Medicaid

  • Confirm whether OSI accepts Texas Medicaid and which managed-care organizations (Superior HealthPlan, Molina, Amerigroup, etc.). Some practices accept only pediatric Medicaid or none at all.

Other

  • Self-pay — see below.

Before Your First Visit

Two calls ahead of time prevent most billing surprises.

  1. Call your insurance.

Use the member services number on the back of your card. Ask: "Is Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute of New Braunfels, or Dr. [your provider], in-network on my plan?" Ask whether orthopedic consults require a referral or prior authorization.

  2. Call our office.

Give us your insurance information when you schedule. We'll verify benefits and let you know ahead of time if you'll owe a copay or deductible at check-in.

  3. Bring what you need.

Photo ID, insurance card (front and back), and any referral or prior authorization your plan requires.

No Insurance or Self-Pay

We see patients without insurance. We offer an estimated self-pay price before your visit so there are no surprises at check-in. Confirm the self-pay office-visit rate and whether a prompt-pay discount is offered.

Payment is due at the time of service. We accept cash, major credit cards, and checks.

Billing Questions

For questions about a bill you've already received, call our billing office and reference the account number on your statement. Add the billing line direct number and hours, if different from the main line.

If you're experiencing financial hardship, ask about our payment-plan options when you call.
